Discussion

This was a short, narrow spit, excavated to define the relationship between two slots and a pit on the western edge of the dry valley. It established that both slots 012AD05020 and 012AD05126 cut through quarry pit 012AD05236. The material removed was a sandy silty loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3). Unusually, 5 Anglian sherds were among the material culture recovered, which derive from the fills of the two slots.
